Description:
Streetscape improvements. Entire street profile is needing upgrades to MODOT/KCMO streetscape standards. The street is not meeting saftey or current traffic standards. Changes needed are: curbs & gutter, streetlights, sidewalks, trail, bike lanes, crosswalks, signals, signage, storm sewer, bmps, curb ramps, controlled access drives). Per the 2006 N. Oak Corridor Plan completed by KCMO in 2006, this area was identified by the area stakeholders to improve this street to an artierial standard.
Importance:
This corridor is a vital link from the downtown to the northland. This street carries volumes of traffic for the northland and is not at current street standards. The N. Oak Corridor Plan was an investment by the City of Kansas City, MO and area stakeholders (MODOT, Parks, neighborhoods, businesses, etc.) to take time to be invovled and this plan was adopted by the City Council in Aug. 2006 by Resolution No. 060955.
Obstacles:
This is corridor carries many underground utilities.
