Add 5' shoulders on route WW, in Columbia when rebuilding road (05COL1002)

Status:

City: Columbia.    Route: WW    Location: East of Hwy 63 to S Rangelin

Type: Shoulder

Description:
Add shoulders to WW between Hwy 63 and S Range Line--about four miles of Highway WW just east of Columbia.

Importance:
WW is a narrow, two-lane state highway with high traffic. The road has no shoulder. Columbia is expanding in this area--there is a large subdivision off Route WW and a school project under construction. Providing a shoulder would allow safe access along Hwy WW for bicyclists and pedestrians, opening up a whole area in and near the city which currently has not bicycle/pedestrian access. On the west end, this would connect with the existing Columbia bicycle route network and on the east end it connects with Range Line which is an existing well-used bicycle route.
