Crosswalk on Highway 141 in Fenton by Dierbergs/30 (06STL1165)

Status:

City: Fenton.    Route: MO 141    Location: Forest Knoll Drive at 141

Type: Curb cuts/ramps, Crosswalks

Description:
This intersection needs a crosswalk, pedestrian signals and a cut in the fence and concrete barrier on the east side of the roadway to allow people to cross from one side of 141 to another.

Importance:
On the west side of 141 sits a busy shopping plaza - Dierbergs, McDonalds, St. Louis Bread, Pizza Hut, you name it, and a large subdivision. On the other (east) side of 141 sits a large subdivision, a library, Fenton city hall, a school and a catholic church. There is no way for pedestrians to cross 141 to get from one of these destinations to the other without going approximately a half mile down and a half mile back on roads with shoulders but no sidewalks.

Obstacles:
I know of no obstacles to getting this done. There is a traffic signal already there, so this would not affect traffic flow. In fact, it is so obviously needed I can't believe it wasn't installed in the first place. I believe this would receive immediate foot traffic and lots of it.
