National Congressional Lobbying Day

Participate in the National Bike Summit's virtual lobbying day from the comfort of your own home or office.

On March 11th bicyclists from around the country will be on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC meeting with Congressional representatives to talk about the importance of bicycling for issues like transportation, recreation, public health, and economic development.

Sales Tax Holiday

Missouri is one of many states that provide a back-to-school sales tax holiday to help families afford school supplies, clothing, and computers.  Family Bicycles in Kansas City has proposed adding bicycles and bike accessories to this list.

This morning MBF was among the groups testifying before the Missouri Senate in support of legislation to ban text messaging while driving for all ages. It's already illegal for people under 21, and Senate Bill 701 would extend the ban to all ages.

Senate Hearing Jan 27th on bill to ban texting while driving

Senator Ryan McKenna has introduced SB701, a bill to ban texting while driving for drivers of all ages.

Last year a bill was passed banning texting while driving for drivers under the age of 21.  McKenna's bill will expand the prohibition on texting to all drivers.

Should MoDOT's future funding include bike/ped?

A group called the Missouri Transportation Alliance is currently taking public feedback as they start to create a plan to deal with MoDOT's current massive funding shortfall. This is the same basic group who wrote and passed Amendment 3 in 2004.
