Sidewalk work prioritized in recent transportation tax proposal for Monett, MO | Monett Times

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Voters in Monett on Aug. 4 will vote on whether to add a half-percent sales tax to address transportation needs, and the Monett City Council has adopted a long-range transportation plan, developed by the civil engineering firm TranSystems, that identifies sidewalk replacement as one of several major community needs that would be addressed.

"In the surveys we sent out, residents very specifically identified sidewalks as a major issue," said Dennis Pyle, city administrator. "We have also said that one of our priorities is identifying safe routes to school. In our experience with the Healthy Schools/Healthy Communities Initiative, we've identified areas that kids use. Those would be our top priority."
