The push is on for municipalities and civic groups to join a “grassroots” movement in demanding that state legislators address the transportation funding shortfall in Missouri.

“We welcome all local groups to join in the effort,” Pat Kelly, executive director of the St. Louis County Municipal League, told members of the Washington Area Highway Transportation Committee Monday.

“I feel it will take a grassroots effort to get anything done,” said Bill Straatmann, committee chairman. “We’re here to help in any way we can.”
