Description:
Add paved shoulder to 59 north to Bus. 71. Short gap in the middle has shoulders. Project is programmed in the MPO TIP now for an overlay so the addition would be a scope add. $320-640K is range of estimated cost.

Importance:
Shoulders are already in existence and graded, just not paved. Big bike route and also used by pedestrians because no sidewalks. The project is already programmed for an overlay in the TIP, so the addition of a few feet of pavement or a full shoulder wouldn't be difficult. This is on the proposed Missouri section of the Lewis & Clark Bicycle Route. With this and a few other minor improvements Adventure Cycling will flip the Louis & Clark route from KS/NE to Missouri for about 100 miles, including this route through St Joseph.
