bike/walking lanes on Hwy 190, Chillicothe (02CHI1242)
Status:
City: chillicothe. Route: hwy 190 n side of chillicothe running west Location: from intersection of hwy 190 and 65 running W for about 5 miles to hwy A
Description:
Add a 6 ft bike / pedestrian lane to either or both sides in order to better accomodate the school campus and accomodate and access some of the current bike paths / share the road paths currently being used on Hwy Y and Hwy A...Which would also allow better access to bike and hiking trails at Poosye and Indian Creek conservation areas. Additionally, the wider roads would make things much safer for all the residents who live along the 190 corridor and use the highway to walk, ride and drive to school. I often see people walking on the gravel shoulder. Finally, this corridor services our entertainment district which is located right by the School Campus. This includes a bowling alley and 6 screen movie theatre along with the areas largest youth organization (vision) that weekly sees and services over 150 kids. Preliminary estimate is $150,000 for one side.

Obstacles:
money? Hwy 190 was recently resurfaced and widened years ago to have a large gravel shoulder. Engineering should see no problem with this project.
