Description:
After Alternate 63 is constructed there will be an at-grade intersection with stop signs HWY 6/Illinois; traffic on HWY 63 will not stop. Individuals who commute on foot or bicycle will have to cross highway traffic that is traveling at 60 mph. Since the plans do not allow for traffic on Alternate 63 to stop, a crossing for non-motorized transportation would require a pedestrian/bicycle bridge. Pedestrians regularly use this road to access area businesses from homes on either side of Alternate 63.

Importance:
This project would remove a significant safety hazard and provide access for bicyclists and pedestrians.
