Missouri High Priority Bike/Ped/ADA Projects

Hwy 350 bicycle/pedestrian path (04KCM0255)

Status: Funded
The City of Raytown is currently planning this project with federal funds.

City: Raytown.    Route: Rt. 350    Location: Along Hwy 350 through Raytown and connecting to Lee's Summit

Type: Sidewalk, Intersection improvements, Crosswalks, trail/path

Description:
Preliminary plans for wide sidewalks and/or a multiuse path along 350 Hwy through Raytown have been developed. This project would build these paths/sidewalks to create bicycle & pedestrian access between residential areas just adjacent to 350 Hwy and commercial/business/shopping areas along 350 Hwy. The paths should be placed on both sides of the highway and should cross all intersections through Raytown. Potentially the path could be extended/connected as far as I-470 in Lee's Summit.

Importance:
Along Hwy 350 is a busy commercial/shopping district in the middle of a fully developed urbanized area. Just behind and adjacent to the commercial areas are completely developed residential subdivisions with thousands of residents. There is currently no bicycle or pedestrian connectivity between these adjacent resident and commercial areas. This project will create a path to connect all commercial areas along 350 Hwy, on each side of the highway, and make the bicycle/pedestrian connection between these businesses and the adjacent residential areas. Most of these commercial areas can currently only be accessed by motor vehicle even though they are just feet from residential areas with many thousands of residents, and creating bicycle/pedestrian access is neither terribly expensive nor difficult.
