Add Bicycle lanes on Providence road from Green Meadows to Stadium BLVD and repair shoulder (05COL1102)

City: Columbia.    Route: S. Providence Rd. (163) and E. Stadium Rd. (740)    Location: East shoulder of Hwy 163 1/4 mile south of intersection with Hwy 740

Type: Shoulder

Description:
Traveling north on Hwy 163, when the right turn lane was recently added to Hwy 163 just south of Hwy 740, the east shoulder became the right turn lane leaving no shoulder. The project would be to add a shoulder to this 1/4 mile or less section of road.

Importance:
The east shoulder of Hwy 163 is used as a bike path for many cyclists including myself traveling north on Hwy 163 towards Hwy 740. Without a shoulder, I must go into the right turn lane with fast traffic to approach the intersection or Faurot Field parking lot entrance. This project would provide a safe, southern approach to this busy, bike/wheel/walk friendly, intersection.
