Off-Ramp on Katy Trail @ 65 Hwy, Sedalia (05SED1155)

Status:

City: Sedalia.    Route: Hwy 65    Location: Intersection of Katy Trail and Hwy 65

Type: Curb cuts/ramps

Description:
An off-ramp from the Katy Trail onto the Shoulder/sidewalk on 65 Hwy - This has been looked into and has been planned by different committees in Sedalia. The Smart Growth Committe in Sedalia has worked on this and have plans made for this project.

Importance:
This would be a key access point from the Katy Trail to many businesses as well as the State Fair Ground's East Main Entrance. Also, if Hwy 65's shoulder was repaired, this could serve as an access to the new Sedalia High School

Obstacles:
This off-ramp goes down an embankment, making this wheel chair accessable would require some distance (approx. 400ft) to create the gradual decline needed. Also, coorination with State owned land (at the South side of the State Fair Grounds) could be needed.
