Sidewalk Renovation along Hwy N in Cottleville (06STL1243)

Status:

City: Cottleville.    Route: Hwy N    Location: From Mid Rivers Mall Drive to Motherhead Road - 1 Mile

Type: Sidewalk, Curb cuts/ramps, Intersection improvements, Crosswalks

Description:
Reconstruct a pedestrian path along the north or south side of Hwy N. Currently, an existing "shoulder" is all that exists. The path crosses many storm sewer structures and has numerous tripping hazards.

Importance:
This is a high vehicluar traveled route, ADT of 16,000+. The route has two schools and a number of subdivisions that connect to both schools via this roadway system. The schools use the paths for physical fitness and would be a huge safety benefit to update the walkway system. In addition, residents use this path to connect to additional trails within the City; therefore, updating ADA facilities would be beneficial to this project.

Obstacles:
Depending on how wide of path constructed, currently there should be sufficient right-of-way. The only obstacle would be the acquisition of additional right-of-way for a wider path or to move the path further from vehicular traffic.
