Westward addition to a planned and designed trail expected to be built this year on the north side of Highway T from Labadie Bottoms Road to west of Labadie Elementary. Exrtending this trail westward to the Laretto Ridge Subdivision, roughly 1.9 miles west of Labadie Bottoms will catpure a greater portion of the community's residents and provide for safe non-motorized travel along this northern Franklin County arterial.
Importance:
The westward expansion of this trail will ensure that additional Labadie residents and school children have safe access to the elementary schools and commercial destinations in downtown Labadie. In addition, this project ties in with the Labadie Great Streets project, one of four Great Streets Projects sponsored by East West Gateway, designed to create stronger, more vibrant communities through balanced, multi-modal transportation infrastructure.
Obstacles:
Potential ROW acquisition difficulties, but general community support as well.
