Jefferson City Region considers first-ever bike/ped plan - Open House Tuesday June 25th
The Capitol Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is putting together the FIRST-EVER bicycle and pedestrian plan for the Jefferson City region.
If you live in the region, please attend the first open house for the plan:
- June 25th, 3:30pm-6:00pm. Open House--drop by any time during this time period.
- Boone/Bancroft Room #200, John G. Christy Municipal Building
- 320 E McCarty St, Jefferson City 65101
CAMPO is looking for citizen input to refine their vision and goals for the regional bicycle and pedestrian plan.
More information about the plan, including a survey you can take if you can't attend in person:

Three specific recommendations we hope CAMPO will implement:
1. Complete Streets. The region needs a Complete Streets policy so that a complete, connected network of bike/ped friendly streets can be created over time. Five of Missouri's eight MPOs have now adopted Complete Streets policies, leaving CAMPO as one of only three who have not. We would like to change that.

2. Apply for Bicycle Friendly Community status:

3. Apply for Walk Friendly Community status:

We have a comprehensive list of ideas and recommendations for MPOs and RPCs like CAMPO to implement--first among them is to create a regional bicycle and pedestrian plan, so we are very encouraged to see CAMPO moving forward with this plan.
We're very excited to see this plan moving forward. MoBikeFed President Rachel Ruhlen has been very involved in moving the plan forward as her Master's Project in completing her Masters in Sustainable Planning degree. So, if you live in the Jefferson City region, please come on out Tuesday and help make this the best plan possible for the region.
