While Missouri is a Do-Nothing State in meeting transportation needs, others are moving ahead regardless of what the Feds are doing — which is chiefly not much long-term.

Nearly one-third of the states have approved measures this year that collectively mean billions of dollars for transportation through higher fuel taxes, vehicle fees and bonds to repair old bridges and roads, add lanes and other measures to relieve traffic congestion.

Since 2013, at least half of the states, in both Republican and Democratic areas, have passed transportation funding measures.
