MoDOT, STL County, Normandy plan major walkability/bikability upgrade for Natural Bridge Road : News
Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:
The plans for the Natural Bridge Great Streets project call for two 11-foot driving lanes separated by a median. A 6-foot bike lane will be next to the driving lane. The project also allows for up to 12 feet of space for landscaping with a 10- to 13-foot-wide sidewalk/shared-use path on each side.
The changes are intended to create a more pedestrian- and bike-friendly environment around the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus without a big effect on vehicle traffic, says the Missouri Department of Transportation, which is spearheading the project.
Most of the work is expected to be done by the end of the year.
“With several schools, housing areas, businesses and campus buildings along this stretch of Natural Bridge, this will improve the livability of an historic neighborhood and boost the economic opportunities,” MoDOT said in an online description of the project.
