MoBikeFed comment: This is a situation all too common in Missouri cities and towns.A semi truck hit a pedestrian on Missouri 125 about 3:15 p.m. Monday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says John Freelove, 69, of Strafford died about 90 minutes later at a hospital in Springfield.
The accident was at the top of the on- and off-ramps on the north side of Interstate 44. The truck was turning from the I-44 westbound off-ramp to go south on Missouri 125 when it hit Freelove.

Strafford is a small town bisected by I-44. Homes, businesses, and other destinations are on both sides of the freeway. And there is only one way across: The Hwy 125 bridge. The bridge has shoulders, but no sidewalk.
Officials seem mystified as to why anyone would be walking in this location.
We are equally mystified as to how such a freeway interchange in the middle of Strafford could ever have been built without including basic, essential pedestrian access.
