Keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice required by city code | St Joseph News-Press

Commuting safely through snowy conditions has likely been on everyone’s mind this week.
Remembering to clear snow off vehicles isn’t an issue for most residents, but that isn’t always the case for sidewalks. According to St. Joseph city code, these owners could be looking at a fine for not making their walkways a priority.
Section 25-78 of the city code states that the removal of ice, snow, dirt and litter from sidewalks should be done by both residential and commercial property owners. It states those walkways should be “in good order and free of obstructions.”
