The new head of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission is Gregg Smith, a Democrat who replaces chairman Steve Miller.

The six-member commission rotated the leadership positions at its monthly meeting Wednesday in Jefferson City, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation, which is governed by the commission.

Smith, of Clinton, Mo., is president and owner of the Gregg Smith Ford Lincoln car dealership, and of Wilder RV, which sells recreational vehicles.
