Cyclists took a lap around the Capitol building Monday before riding the 3 miles toward the North Jefferson City trail head of the Katy Trail for their annual legislative day.

They rode to bring awareness to their legislative causes, as well as physically show legislators how beneficial cycling is to Missourians, said Brent Hugh, executive director of the Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation.

"I think we need more champions in the General Assembly and we need to educate people how it is important and how much people love it," Hugh said.

The ride was coordinated by the federation, Missouri State Parks and the Missouri Department of Transportation.

MoBikeFed comment: Many thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, or contacted your legislators for our annual Capitol Day April 11th. It really DOES make a difference!
