Now, nearly a month after Election Day, Washington is in the full swing of the transition between administrations and there’s constantly changing speculation about policies and personnel. While we can’t predict what will happen, we can review what information has come to light thus far and the impact it might have on Safe Routes to School and healthy communities.

MoBikeFed comment: Margo Pedroso, congressional contact for the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, has done a great job outlining the changes in Congress and the administration that may affect bicycling, walking, and safe routes to school.

The situation Margo outlines on the national level is true on the state level here in Missouri as well--we have a lot of educating to do, and a lot of new supporters to cultivate in Congress, in the new Presidential administration, in the Missouri House and Senate, and in our new Missouri Governor's administration.

With so many new elected officials and leaders in key committees--at the state and the federal levels--we have our work cut our for us.
