The Columbia City Council will hear public input Monday on the MKT Trail bridge replacement project before voting on whether to proceed.

The project calls for two bridge replacements, bridges No. 5 and No. 7, on the MKT Trail and, if funding allows, the replacement of bridge No. 8. The three bridges being proposed by Parks and Recreation for replacement were ranked in the top four on a list of bridges needing immediate repair because of age and wear. A consultant studied each bridge on the trail and compiled the list in 2013.

Columbia Parks and Recreation Department Director Mike Griggs said the bridges are more than 120 years old and require constant repairs.
