MoBikeFed comment: This is one of the first projects in Columbia to begin to implement the city's new Vision Zero policy.A major improvement project is set to begin at a busy Columbia intersection Monday.
Weather-permitting, drivers can expect road crews at Old Highway 63 and Stadium Boulevard for several months.
The $1.75 million project will improve the intersection by increasing its size. Crews will also add pedestrian and bicycle upgrades to meet Vision Zero goals.
Vision Zero has the goal of eliminating all traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Traffic is among the leading causes of accidental death and serious injury in the U.S. and the world. But too often we simply accept this deaths and serious injuries as simply inevitable.
