The St. Louis Bicycle Works Earn-A-Bike programs aim to teach kids that they can set goals and reach them. The group believes that everyone deserves the chance to dream and to follow those dreams by challenging themselves, testing their abilities, and reaching for more.

Through the free Earn-a-Bike program, kids attend a series of hands-on courses held 1 day a week for 6 weeks. They learn about bikes, including maintenance and safety. Also, the kids learn to solve problems individually and as a group. They learn a sense of responsibility, too. Students must attend every session to graduate the program. Upon graduation, kids receive their own bike, helmet, light and lock and participate in a group safety ride with adults and peers.

MoBikeFed comment: St. Louis Bicycle Works is an amazing organization that runs a series of amazing programs for kids.

It is truly a national model for youth oriented programs and a real bright spot in Missouri's bicycle scene.
