Missouri's Blueprint toward zero traffic deaths | MoDOT

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Missouri’s Blueprint – A Partnership Toward Zero Deaths
marks the fourth edition of our state’s strategic highway safety plans. The first three plans, Missouri’s Blueprint for Safer Roadways, Missouri’s Blueprint to Arrive Alive and Missouri’s Blueprint to Save More Lives have helped reshape traffic safety in Missouri. They have been instrumental in saving lives and reducing serious injuries. This updated Blueprint is an ongoing strategic plan for all traffic safety advocates to use in their respective communities. This tool will assist in planning and continuing efforts in reducing the number of people killed and injured as the result of motor vehicle crashes on Missouri roadways.

MoBikeFed comment: A major advance in this version of the Blueprint is the adoption of "Vision Zero" language and outlook, for the first time ever in Missouri.

We still have a ways to go before MoDOT and its partners across the state truly embrace a full Vision Zero program, but even using the language and adopting the goal of zero deaths is a big step forward at this point.

What is Vision Zero and how can you implement it in your community? Much more info is at out Missouri Vision Zero information page:
