Kansas City's Cliff Drive to Columbus Park connector trail is finally moving forward | Brett Shoffner

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

Cliff Drive/Columbus Park connector trail is getting concrete down through the woods finally. Opening in October.

MoBikeFed comment: This trail is a long-envisioned connection between Kansas City's Cliff Drive--a very popular bicycling and walking destination, closed to motor vehicle traffic every weekend--and the Columbus Park neighborhood nearby.

The trail connection will eventually connect over the Missouri River bluffs and under I-29, bypassing a very awkward and dangerous area for cyclists and pedestrians.

The trail connection will tie Columbus Park and adjoining neighborhoods--including the River Market area, Downtown, the Crossroads District, the Riverfront/Berkeley Park, and North Kansas City (via the Heart of America Bridge bike/ped path)--to Cliff Drive and its adjoining neighborhoods.

Altogether it is one of the most important trail connections in the Kansas City core.
