The Missouri Department of Natural Resources hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the beginning of a $2.5 million infrastructure project Thursday afternoon at the Katy Depot. 

The project, decades in the making, will close the approximately 3-mile gap in Sedalia, the only gap in the 240-mile Katy Trail State Park that runs from St. Charles to Clinton, Missouri.
