The Dirt 66: Fellows Lake Trails are part of the 800-acres City Utilities is connecting for natural surface trail through the woods for hikers, runners and mountain bikers. The first trail segment, Uncle Frank's, opened in 2020, and I took, you guessed it, the Bullwinkle section.

With temperatures in the high 50s, it was a perfect day to walk the trail, and I got a leg up on where the moose would be, thanks to coordinates from Joel. . . .

As I got closer to the pinged location, I finally spotted the great metal antlers. With many of the trees bare, it wasn't going to be hard to miss the moose.

Mary Kromrey, of Ozark Greenways, told me later that TrailSprings' Jessica Pearson saw the unique knot on the tree and worked with a donor and local metal worker to fashion the moose's antlers, hence naming that section of trail Bullwinkle.
