Missouri Parks Association's Advocacy Day in Jefferson City - March 1st, 2023
The Missouri Parks Association is our strongest voice in Missouri for better state parks and for state parks funding. The Association has been very active in supporting creation, development, and funding for the Rock Island Trail State Park - see for example the Association's roundup of the 2022 Rock Island Trail funding debacle in the Missouri legislature here. 
Funding for the Rock Island Trail STate Park is under threat again this legislative session - the Senate Appropriations Committee has already discussed removing the appropriation for a multi-million federal grant Governor Parson had earmarked for the new State Park.
So you support is needed to talk with our state legislators - and the Parks Association's Advocacy Day is a good day to have those discussions.
The Association is also a strong supporter of the Katy Trail State Park, and all State Parks across Missouri, most of which including trails for walking, hiking, bicycling, and other uses.
If you support our Missouri State Parks, and the many opportunities for hiking and bicycling that they present, supporting Missouri Parks Association's Advocacy Day is a natural. Here is the information for the Advocacy Day coming up March 1st:
Join the Missouri Parks Association at the State Capitol in Jefferson City on March 1, 2023, for Missouri Parks Association’s ADVOCACY DAY. Together, we will activate our voices for Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites, build relationships with elected officials while educating them about Missouri’s state park system, and communicate MPA’s Mission and Legislative Priorities.
On Thursday, February 16th, 6:30-7:30PM - Join MPA and other members for ADVOCACY DAY Prep on Zoom, to review MPA’s Legislative Priorities and discuss the agenda for the in-person event March 1st.
On ADVOCACY DAY, Wednesday, March 1st, 10:30 AM-4PM - Meet in small groups with your legislators, and with other key committee members or those with parks in their district. MPA will set these up for you and provide materials after 10:00 am at our base in the House Alcove located on the third floor. Meet us there!
