Must-try biking trails for cyclists of all levels

The St. Louis area is full of natural beauty. One of the best ways to see all the sights in the city is by bike, thanks to the metro’s collection of cycling trails that wind through St. Louis.

“Each MDC biking trail has its unique aspects,” Missouri Department of Conservation St. Louis regional media specialist Dan Zarlenga says. “Taken as a whole, MDC trails offer bikers a closer connection to nature than most cycling trails in the area. They are often less trafficked than concrete/asphalt paths and greenways, and tend to offer a more secluded experience.”

Zarlenga says that bike trail surfaces in the St. Louis metro range from fairly level, compacted gravel to rugged dirt, hills and off-road terrain more suitable for mountain biking, depending on the trail. So, whether you’re a cyclist who’s just starting out or someone who wants to really challenge their skills, explore some of the most notable biking trails in St. Louis.
