Making Broadway Boulevard safer for pedestrians and drivers alike is a new goal for Kansas City leaders as they plan changes for the busy thoroughfare. . . .

Between 31st and 43rd Streets, the plan is to alter the road’s layout to slow traffic. They’re looking to add a bicycle lane and reduce the number of driving lanes from 5 to 3, including a turn lane. . . .

There are a ton of new shops opening up, coffee shops, restaurants- so being a more pedestrian-friendly, biker-friendly area is going to revitalize all of Westport and bring more tourism,” said business owner Alex Sanchez. . . .

“Westport has been around forever. Having an area where people can park their bikes would revitalize everything. I think we’re going to see a shift in Westport and increased business growth.”
