The National Map--view, and download, all sorts of map data for the entire U.S.--roads, railways, trails, waterways, topography, elevation, land use, and much, much more. The idea is to collect all publicly available data and present it in a seamless form. Ultra-high resolution satellite data is available for the St. Louis area and about 40 other U.S. metro areas. This sort of data is very useful for transportation planning. The data is public domain, so it can be freely used in creating maps, even for public distribution.
