Wm. Jewell & CMSU graduate puts together music career
Submitted by Brent Hugh on Tue, 11/09/2004 - 9:18pm
According to a Sedalia Democrat article, Ellyn Wenig-Wilson, a piano performance graduate of William Jewell College with a master's degree from CMSU, has put together an interesting career in music:
Besides teaching the honor choir after school, Ms. Wilson teaches regular music classes from kindergarten through fifth-grade and band and choir classes for the middle school.
"You have to learn to shift gears and be very flexible," she said. "Music helps with self-esteem, confidence, opens their mind to new awareness, and helps them to stay away from drugs. They can use it in the future. It's extremely important that we keep the fine arts in the schools."
