Ozark Cycling Club provides helmets for youngsters
The Ozark Cycling Club is running a campaign to provide helmets to young cyclists and encourage bicyclists to wear helmets. The Springfield News-Leader story included this interesting fact:
Contrary to a common impression, bicycle-vehicle collisions aren't responsible for most bicycle-related head injuries.MoBikeFed has a summary of bicycle injury statistics in Missouri that reaches this same conclusion about bicycle injuries in general.
Statistics for 2003 indicate that in Springfield most head injury accidents occur close to a child's home and involve falls, Holt said.
