Bicycle sales are gonna go up . . .

The Springfield News-Leader had this to say about high gas prices:
It's official: Gas has never cost more in Springfield.

Tuesday, the average price of regular unleaded hit a record of $1.975 per gallon in the metropolitan area, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

Kansas City set a record last Tuesday. The entire state of Missouri set a record Saturday. And the nation as a whole is teetering less than one penny from its previous high. . . .

"It's horrible. It's expensive. I can't really afford to keep paying for it," said Robert Darnton, 23, a student at Southwest Missouri State University, as he filled up his Toyota Camry on Tuesday. "Bicycle sales are gonna go up," he added with a grin.
