Kansas trails planned to join KC area & Katy

The Belleview Democrat, Kansas City Star, Lawrence Journal, and other newspapers are reporting on a push to connect a system of trails in eastern Kansas that would connect with Kansas City and eventually the Katy Trail:
In two minutes you can send a message asking the Missouri DNR and the railroads to make that connection.
A biking and hiking trail that would extend from Berryton to Lawrence is currently mostly a dream for supporters, but they are vowing to push ahead with the project.Again, a key to this interconnected trails system, which has the potential to connect 4 states, is the connection between the Katy Trail and Kansas City.
The Topeka City Council and the Lawrence City Commission have both passed resolutions supporting the plan, and similar support will be sought soon from the Douglas County Commission, said Clark Coan, of Lawrence, a member of the Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy.
The proposed 15-mile Landon Trail would be one of several trails that would interconnect and head into the Kansas City metropolitan area, eventually connecting with the Katy Trail in Missouri.
"I think it will be really popular and get a lot of usage," bicycle enthusiast Eric Struckhoff said. "A lot of people use the trails that are in Lawrence."
In two minutes you can send a message asking the Missouri DNR and the railroads to make that connection.
