Hit-and-run driver who injured 14-yr-old bicyclist convicted

According to a KMBC news story:
Sergio Ortiz pleaded guilty to careless and imprudent driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police said Ortiz was driving a pickup truck that hit Juan Portillo, 14, in January 2006. Officers said Portillo was riding his bicycle along Truman Road near Bennington Avenue when a pickup truck pulled out of a drive-in restaurant and hit him. Portillo was knocked off of his bicycle and dragged under the pickup for about 200 feet.
Ortiz then fled the scene. His truck was identified and Ortiz arrested some time later.
