$12 million to ease effects Hwy 40 construction in STL, including bike route signage

St. Louis BizJournal is reporting that

The East-West Gateway Council of Governments voted to dole out $12 million among Metro, St. Louis County and the city of St. Louis to help mediate traffic congestion related to the impending Interstate 64 reconstruction . . .

Of the $12 million, Metro will receive $6 million, which it will put toward ensuring that its current bus routes are able to operate at their planned trip frequency even with the delays caused by traffic congestion and detours.

The remaining $6 million will be equally split between St. Louis County and the city of St. Louis, which will use the money to add bike route signage and improve traffic signal synchronization during the project.

The $12 million will come from the St. Louis region's Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality (CMAQ) funds.
