St. Louis Hit & Runs: Big Break in one case
It looks like the St. Louis Regional Bicycle Federation's new Hit-and-Run Justice Fund has had some positive results. According to Dave Luecking:
There is still one more hit-and-run driver out there, who seriously injured two bicyclists on Jan 26th. Here's hoping officials catch up with that driver as well.
The Post-Dispatch is publishing a law brief in Thursday’s paper about an arrest being made in the hit-and-run in which a cyclist was seriously injured on Jan. 28 downtown.Whether or not the reward had a specific role in the arrest, it certainly served to focus the attention of police and city officials on the incident and on the problem.
The man arrested and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident is a 38-year-old from East St. Louis. The report states that the 48-year-old cyclist was hospitalized for a month and is now recuperating at a family member’s house.
No word on whether the reward generated by cyclists, managed by the St. Louis Bike Fed and supported by Mayor Slay had any role in the arrest.
