Trail updates in Lee's Summit & Carl Junction

The Carl Junction city council approved a trail contract this week, extending the network of trails in that area of the state:
The third phase of the Thom Station project will extend the trail from south of Briarbrook Drive to the north end of Copper Oaks. The project will include work on the abandoned railroad bed and drainage work.
Meanwhile Jackson County Parks is planning a facelift for the 6.5-mile Longview Lake trail, one of the oldest and best-used trails in the Kansas City area:
At 24 years old, the trail could definitely use a makeover, and that’s exactly what is scheduled to start next spring. As part of a county project costing more than $800,000, the entire trail will be repaved and widened from eight feet to 10.
The Longview Trail was started in 1982 and completed in 1985.
