Last day of session: Ryan's Bill passes; Anti-harassment introduced in St Louis
Two pieces of very good news today!
Last day of the legislative session and just hours to go . . .
"Ryan's Bill", solving the bike rack/license plate obstructio issue, has PASSED the MO General Assembly as part of SB 470.
It is now off to the governor for signature.
Other big news today, Trailnet worked with St Louis City to introduce a bike/ped anti-harassment ordinance, announced today for Bike to Work Day.
That is part of our cooperative statewide strategy to get anti-harassment bills passed in a number of cities to build momentum to get it done at the statewide level. Reducing harassment of bicyclists and pedestrians was the very top priority of our members and supporters in our survey last year.
Thanks to all of our members, supporters, and allied organizations for your amazing work this year--writing, calling, emailing, and visiting Jefferson City and Washington, DC.
It's turned out to be a great legislative year, with these two developments today, the new trails funding & greenway districts in the two largest metro areas potentially providing steady, dedicated funding for bike/ped, and real progress on the Missouri statewide transportation funding issue.
