BikeWalkKC plans Cyclovia in Kansas City September 7th
Main Street Day in Kansas CityBikeWalkKC KC is excited to partner with MainCor and Main Street Community Improvement District to present Kansas City's first-ever Ciclovia.
Join us on September 7th for Main Street Day and Ciclovia.
Ciclovia, Open Streets, Sunday Parkways, etc. form an international movement to create temporary public space by closing local streets to cars and opening them to people for walking, bicycling, running, etc.. Activities like live music, local food vendors, yoga lessons, and more will transform the streets into public spaces that will provide local residents new opportunities for healthy living, active transportation, and social engagement.
GOALS OF MAIN STREET DAY:
- Increase the health and physical activity of all Kansas City Metro area residents
- Showcase infrastructure supporting active transportation such as walking and biking
- Increase neighborhood’s accessability and livability
- Increase economic opportunities for local businesses and vendors
Encouraging Open Streets and Ciclovia events across Missouri is one of the goals in MoBikeFed's Vision for Bicycling and Walking in Missouri.
