New signage installed on the Transamerica Trail this year--why it's so important
Recently we reported that, after decades of advocacy by MoBikeFed and our allied organizations across Missouri, and many years of planning and coordinating by MoDOT statewide bike/ped coordinators, the entire Transamerica Trail has been adopted officially into the U.S. National Bicycle Route system and--most importantly--signed to mark every turn.

So why is that important to the thousand of cyclists who ride the Transamerica Trail across Missouri?
Here is a report from one of them that tells why:
I rode with 8 other cyclists across the Transamerica Route across Southern Missouri (well almost--we rode West to East from Girard Kansas, stopping at Farmington) a couple of weekends ago.
What a GREAT job with the signage. If was a pure joy just riding along knowing we would not miss the next turn without consulting our maps. . . .
But again, thanks for all the work that went into the signage and thanks for your continuing improvement and education efforts in favor of cyclists.

One of the four primary objectives of MoBikeFed's Vision for Bicycling and Walking in Missouri is to create a world-class bicycle and pedestrian network in Missouri. One of our primary goals under that objective is to get the six national bicycle routes that cross Missouri properly signed, officially recognized, and better used and known. Your membership and generous financial support helps us make our Vision a reality!
