Kansas City Women's Bike Summit tomorrow
In Missouri, women bicycle far less often than men. Why is that? What can we do about it? Is it a problem unique to Missouri or is it happening in other places as well?

And what can we do about it?
All these issues and more are the subject of BikeWalkKC's Women's Bike Summit tomorrow--May 10th, 2014 at the Kaufmann Foundation, 48th and Troost, Kansas City.
The first KC Women’s Bike Summit will create a venue for women of all ages and backgrounds to come together and celebrate bicycling, discuss issues that are relevant and important to female cyclists and provide hands-on opportunities for women to become more confident. We will empower women to get on bicycles and participate in their communities as riders and leaders, and bring the nationwide momentum of more women on bikes to Kansas City.
Through a day of workshops, panel discussions, and clinics, the KC Women's Bike Summit will create an inclusive, positive and educational environment for women of all backgrounds. Complimentary childcare will be available.
It turns out that there is a lot we can do about this situation--and particularly, places that have made bicycling truly safe and convenient find that women cycle far more often.
Kudos to BikeWalkKC for tackling this timely and important issue in Missouri.
