Missouri lawmakers are considering increasing the state gas tax to generate more revenue for transportation project, The Independence Examiner reports.

Eastern Jackson County representatives said the Missouri House is considering a plan to increase the state's gas tax by 2 cents a year for three years. At 17 cents a gallon, the state's gas tax is among the lowest in the nation.
