Trail Towns: Working together to make a better trail experience and maximize economic impact | Trail Towns

Headlines are quick hits from media outlets from Missouri and around the world. Follow the headline link for the full story. The source of this headline says:

The Trail Town Program® is an economic development and community revitalization initiative working in “Trail Towns” along long distance trails across the "Power of 32+ Network". The program’s purpose is to ensure that trail communities and businesses maximize the economic potential of the trail.

The program also works to address trail-wide issues and opportunities through regional cooperation and to build the connection “between trail and town,” so that there are safe and well-marked routes into the towns.

MoBikeFed Comment: Trail Towns operates along the Great Allegheny Passage, a trail that connects Pittsburgh and Washington, DC.

It is similar in many ways to Missouri's Katy Trail and Rock Island Trail--passing through many small, rural communities.

The Trail Towns program is a great model for Missouri businesses and communities along our Missouri trail.
