MoBikeFed comment: We're uniting with organizations from across Missouri to move the Walk Friendly Communities program across Missouri into high gear. We would like to see dozens of communities across Missouri work towards official Walk Friendly Community designation over the next few years. For anyone that has noticed bad sidewalks in their neighborhood, Tuesday is the day to let the city know about it.
Safety officials with the University of North Carolina will be in Kansas City to survey just how walkable the city is. The team will be looking for cracks in the sidewalks and bushes covering the sidewalk.
Issues like that don't help the walk-friendly score for Kansas City, and that is what the KC Healthy Kids organization is trying to change.
The two-day workshop will cover what it takes to be a walkable city.
