Sidewalk work begins in Houston, funded by Safe Routes to School program | houstonherald.com

Sidewalk work at several locations in Houston is underway as part of a statewide program to improve transportation near school districts.

Logan Excavating of Vienna is the contractor for the $251,401 sidewalk project as part of a statewide initiative, “Safe Routes to School.” The firm recently completed an unrelated sidewalk project on Oak Hill Drive.

The latest effort is covered almost entirely by the “Safe Routes to School” grant program administered by MoDOT. The funds are federal dollars designated for increasing the safety of the children in grades K-8 to walk, bike and wheel to school and are administered through the highway safety division of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
