MoBikeFed comment: Many solutions have been proposed for Missouri's current transportation funding crisis. But most of the solutions have focused on finding more tax dollars so that we can continue to expand our road system year after year.

How about solutions that allow us to get more use out of our current system? How about solutions that put the emphasis on maintaining our current system rather than continually expanding it with huge, costly projects?

Missouri vastly underfunds public transit in comparison to our neighboring and peer states.

One reason to give strong consideration to increasing transit funding, is because it creates transportation choice and gives transportation options to the 8% of households that don't own a car and the more than 25% of Missourians who don't hold a driver's license.

But another reason is that funding transit helps reduce road congestion and reduces our need for highly expensive road expansion projects.
